Taksirat Festival, Skopje: Date, Venue and Tickets
Taksirat, Skopje's winter music festival: the 2026 edition on 7 December at SC Jane Sandanski, what 2025 tickets cost and how the night runs.
Mark Monday 7 December 2026: that’s the 28th Taksirat, the winter music festival that has run in Skopje every year since 1999, and this time it moves to the sports hall at SC Jane Sandanski after the organisers’ years at Boris Trajkovski Arena. When we checked on 6 October 2026, no acts had been announced and 2026 tickets weren’t on sale yet, so the useful numbers for now are last year’s: 1,000-1,500 MKD (about €16-24 / $18-27 / £14-21) for the main night of the 2025 edition, depending on how early you bought.
The big bills play one long night (two days in 2025), but the name stretches further: the organiser also runs concerts and a music conference under the Taksirat banner in the weeks around it. And 7 December 2026 falls on a Monday, the eve of St Clement’s Day, a national day off.
One night in December
Search for Taksirat and you’ll find listings describing a festival of several weeks from late November, spread over several venues. That’s half the picture. The festival’s own history page gives one date per edition, every year back to 1999, and the 2026 announcement names one date too: that’s the main night in the arena. In 2025 the main programme ran over two days, a band night on Saturday 6 December and a day of electronic music on Sunday 7 December. Around it the organiser sold separate concerts under the same name: a Vlada Divljan tribute at the Macedonian Philharmonic on 17 November 2025 and a Buč Kesidi show at the Youth Cultural Centre (MKC) on 19 December 2025, billed as the festival’s closing gig. The PIN music conference ran at MKC on 27-29 November, and the organiser also lists an off-programme of art performances, films, theatre and workshops.
It began small. The organiser’s account is that the 1999 edition, on 27 November with Zabranjeno Pušenje on the bill, drew 300-400 people and was meant to voice frustration with the country’s cultural life and music scene at the time, with bands from the former Yugoslavia at its core. The name fits that mood: taksirat is an old Turkish word for fate, usually in the bad-luck sense. Today the organiser says more than 10,000 people come for the main night alone, and the bills mix regional favourites with foreign names. The 2025 line-up, for example, had Dubioza Kolektiv from Bosnia, the American rap group ONYX and Italy’s Lacuna Coil on day one, and techno DJ Sven Väth closing day two.
7 December, almost every year
The history page shows a festival that’s settled on a date rather than a weekend. Here’s how the recent editions fell, with a few names from each bill as the festival lists them:
| Edition | Date | Weekday | From the bill |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20th | 7 Dec 2018 | Friday | Pendulum (DJ set), Therapy?, Smut |
| 21st | 7 Dec 2019 | Saturday | Beogradski Sindikat, Vojko Vrućina, Superhiks |
| 22nd | 13 Dec 2020 | Sunday | on TV and online: Fulu Miziki, Che Sudaka, Džambo Aguševi Orchestra |
| 23rd | 7 Dec 2021 | Tuesday | Sanatorium, Crni Cerak, Young Dadi |
| 24th | 7 Dec 2022 | Wednesday | La Pegatina, Buč Kesidi |
| 25th | 7 Dec 2023 | Thursday | Let 3, S.A.R.S., Smut |
| 26th | 7 Dec 2024 | Saturday | Partibrejkers, Elemental |
| 27th | 6-7 Dec 2025 | Saturday-Sunday | Dubioza Kolektiv, ONYX, Sven Väth |
| 28th | 7 Dec 2026 | Monday | to be announced |
Since 2017 it has strayed twice: to 13 December in 2020, and to a two-day edition in 2025. For 2026 the date suits a local crowd: Tuesday 8 December is St Clement of Ohrid Day, on the 2026 list of non-working days for everyone, so a Monday audience can stay to the end. If you’re flying in, the flip side is that a non-working holiday shuts most shops the way a Sunday does (North Macedonia travel tips), so do your shopping before Tuesday. Friday to Tuesday still covers the gig and the recovery.
The new venue: SC Jane Sandanski
Taksirat has moved house before. Over the years it played the Youth Cultural Centre (MKC) and the Skopje Fair, and the organiser, Password Production, says the fair’s demolition left it no choice but Boris Trajkovski Arena. In September 2026 it announced on Facebook that the festival is leaving that arena for the hall at SC Jane Sandanski, with a pointed line that “some new guys came along” who respect “neither the history nor the tradition”. The same post promises two halls again, which suggests the familiar two-stage format will carry over.
The arena is an indoor sports hall in the Aerodrom district, east of the centre, rebuilt and reopened in 2014 next to the Hotel Russia. From Macedonia Square it’s 4.3 km by road, under ten minutes by taxi without traffic, or about 3.6 km and three-quarters of an hour on foot. From the airport it’s around 21 km. On a normal night it hosts basketball and handball, so picture a sports hall with tiered seating rather than a club.
Tickets: what 2025 cost and how they work
For scale, here’s what the 27th edition charged. For day one, the band night on 6 December 2025, a Super Early Bird ticket cost 1,000 MKD (about €16 / $18 / £14) and was on sale only until a Wednesday at 14:00; after that, Early Bird tickets were 1,200 MKD (about €20 / $22 / £17), and the official seller, MKTickets, ended up listing the night at 1,500 MKD (about €24 / $27 / £21). The electronic day on 7 December 2025 climbed the same way: 990 MKD (about €16) for Super Early Bird, then 1,200 MKD, then 1,500 MKD. Prices went up in steps, so the lesson for 2026 is to be ready the week sales open.
Sales run through MKTickets, online and through a network of shops and travel agencies; in Skopje the 2025 list included Literatura.mk and Jugoton in the GTC shopping centre. The organiser’s ticket rules are short and worth reading before you pay:
- Buy only from the official MKTickets network. A ticket with an invalid barcode won’t get you in.
- Print your PDF voucher and bring it to the entrance. Each barcode is scanned once and swapped for one festival wristband, so a forwarded copy is worthless to the second person.
- Refunds are only possible if the whole festival is cancelled, and not when the cause is force majeure.
- One entry per ticket: the organiser’s questions-and-answers page says you get into the hall once, with no re-entry. Children under 6 go in free, but only with a guardian, and the same page asks everyone to carry ID, so bring your passport.
- Filming and photography happen during the event, and buying a ticket means you accept that you may end up in the festival’s promo material.
How the night runs
Taksirat is late. On 7 December 2023, the last edition with a published running order we found, doors opened at 19:30 and the music started at 20:30. The main stage went Smut, Let 3, Strajk with LD Pistolero, S.A.R.S., then Dubioza Kolektiv at 00:50, and Kiril Džajkovski closed it at 02:00, with a second, smaller “Smooth Groove” stage running alongside. Stay for the last act and you’re leaving some time after 2am.
The 2025 electronic day ran the other way round. The organiser and MKTickets listed it from 12:00, and the festival’s announcement, as Radio MOF reported it, promised a 12-hour techno party from 13:00 to 01:00, with Macedonian DJs leading up to Sven Väth on the main stage. Whether 2026 keeps a second day is one of the things the organisers haven’t said yet.
Getting in, getting home and where to sleep
If you’re flying in, the arena is on the airport side of town, but you’ll still want to drop bags in the centre first: Skopje Airport to the city centre puts the shuttle bus, taxis and transfers side by side, with current fares.
Plan the ride home before you go in. After 2am a taxi is the simplest way back, and our Skopje nightlife guide has the sensible version: get the meter running or a price agreed before you pull away, and carry cash, since most taxis there take nothing else. As for a base, the arena itself is in a residential district, and nothing about the festival ties you to it. The Centre keeps you within a short ride of the venue and walking distance of everything else; Debar Maalo is quieter and has its own bars for a last drink. Both are weighed in where to stay in Skopje, and the daytime half of the trip is covered in things to do in Skopje.
Dress for a night that starts in a queue outside before the doors open and ends on the pavement waiting for a taxi after 2am; the December numbers are in the month-by-month weather guide.
Between now and 7 December
If 2025 is anything to go by, tickets go on sale before the bill is complete. That year the Super Early Bird window opened with a promise that names would follow “in just a few days”, and the price stepped up once the window closed. The official site, taksirat.mk, carries the programme once it’s published. The September 2026 venue news reached the public through the organisers’ Facebook page and the Macedonian press, so keep an eye on both for names.
If you’re choosing one music trip to Skopje, weigh it against October’s Skopje Jazz Festival, a very different crowd at the National Opera and Ballet. The North Macedonia events calendar maps the whole year, from summer festivals by the lake to the public holidays. If you’re staying on into the holidays, the city’s own programme on Macedonia Square began on 15 December in 2025, and Skopje at Christmas & New Year covers what it included.
